Rinconada is located just south of Cobquecura, 17.4 km from Buchupureo, and is a traditional fishing cove. The wave is a left-hand point break, ideal for surfers of all levels. Caution is advised when paddling back to shore, as boat activity is frequent due to the fishing activity in the area.
This spot features a sandy bottom with rock sections, providing both safety and wave variety. It offers consistent and powerful waves that can reach average heights between 1.6 and 2.7 meters (5–9 ft), with rides ranging from 100 to 450 meters (328–1,475 ft), allowing for long, progressive maneuvers—and if you catch the right swell, even a few barrels.
Water temperatures range from 10°C to 18°C (50°F to 64°F) depending on the season. We recommend 5/4 mm wetsuits for autumn and winter, and 4/3 mm for spring and summer. If you're not used to cold water, we suggest wearing booties, hoods, and gloves.
Ideal conditions occur with offshore winds and south/southwest swells (S/SW), enhanced by southerly and southeast winds (S/SE).
